Author and rehabilitator Terry Masear wants to save every injured hummingbird in Los Angeles. Terry volunteers to rescue hummingbirds, taking in the most fragile patients, but the road to survival is fraught with uncertainty and drama. In Sally Aitken’s intimate and moving documentary, we empathize with Terry’s sick hummingbirds, including Cactus, Jimmy, Wasabi, Raisin, and Mikhail, as they celebrate their small victories and mourn their small tragedies. Through the eyes of America’s dedicated bird rehabilitator, each bird becomes memorable, powerful, and heroic.
