The Duttons faced new challenges in the early 20th century, including the growth of western expansion, Prohibition, and the Great Depression. Although the Great Depression in America began in 1929, it began earlier in Montana. The Great Depression began in Montana in 1918, almost 10 years before the rest of the country. While the rest of America prospered, Montana struggled. Due to drought and reduced demand for agricultural products due to the end of the “Great War” (also known as World War I, from 1914 to 1918), many farmers suffered greatly. As a result, Montana farmers were unable to repay their war loans, leading to widespread bank failures throughout the state. Between 1921 and 1925, half of Montana farmers lost their land. By 1925, 70,000 of the 82,000 settlers in Montana have left. In addition, 200 banks in Montana have failed. The drought not only damaged crops, but was followed by a locust invasion and a cattle invasion. It was second only to Yellowstone, but still a similar feeling… I really liked it and although I should have seen something else, I feel like maybe it could have been better (a tougher task after Yellowstone! ), BUT. BUT. BUT… It seems like everything has finally moved off the dead end and the side stories are coming together… And then it all ends – it’s clearly set up for a second season – BUT – if it doesn’t happen, then you’ve just wasted your time, since the story doesn’t even end by the end of this first season. And there’s currently no announcement or schedule for a second season… That’s what pisses me off! It’s like going to a great restaurant and only getting side dishes without the main course!!! What the hell… Come on producers…. Get your fingers off!!!!
