Narrative
Paddington returns to Peru to visit his beloved aunt Lucy, who now lives at the Retired Bears Home. With the Brown family by his side, an exciting adventure begins when a secret sends them on an unexpected journey. However, he was the one who came up with the idea for this third film and was involved as an executive producer.
Paddington in Peru is a pretty cool, if unremarkable, film
Seen in Graham Norton in Gosti: Billy Crystal/Emily Mortimer/Hugh Bonneville/Pharrell Williams/Michael Kiwanuka (2024). Sure, it doesn’t quite reach the heights of Paddington 2, but it’s probably on par with the first. With a different director at the helm, this film also takes a different perspective by taking the action out of London and moving it to the jungles of Peru.
It also leaves room for a slightly different type of story, perhaps more adventurous and exciting
This is probably a wise decision as it makes the film feel fresh and different from the other two. It’s an interesting enough story, and it plays out quite well and keeps a decent pace. The humor is a bit mediocre, but it’s definitely aimed more at kids, which is more my age than anything else.
It’s sweet and gentle
I also think the emotional side is a bit lacking. I remember watching Paddington 2 bringing tears to my eyes, but this one is a bit softer. In fact, I think that word sums up this film.
