Narrative
Buried memories of the Spanish Civil War are revealed when a woman searches for the remains of her grandfather’s father and discovers the story of an idealistic young teacher from Tarragona. Nana was written by Manuel de Falla. It’s too hard for me to add anything to emit1717’s post, which did a great job. His are also my own thoughts. Watch this film today at the New Palace complex in Sydney, with less than 10 people in attendance! It was hard to dry my eyes with sadness, but also joy at seeing such a work. And I need twice as many characters! As a French child I knew Spanish very well, so I also liked the language, which was not too fast and clear enough that I could understand it a little without reading the subtitles! So if ‘you’re also learning Spanish, this might be another reason to see this beautiful story, which I understand is also a true story.
